Permanent

Grade B

Working 36.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Birmingham City Councils Environmental Health service.

As one of the largest and most diverse local authorities in the UK Birmingham offers a dynamic and rewarding environment for professionals committed to protecting the local environment and public spaces.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated person to join our team where you will play a key role in supporting the progression of fixed penalty notices which are served for environmental offences through to prosecution. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring case progression of unpaid fixed penalty notices assessing the quality of prosecution files preparing court evidence bundles and preparing witnesses. The successful candidate will also prepare reports as required.


Some of the qualifications and skills required include:

  • Show proficiency in English Language and Maths to a grade C/4 or an equivalent standard.
  • Have an understanding of legal processes regarding criminal enforcement.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills including during conflict situations.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate experience collaborating with colleagues and external partners while delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Utilise various computer systems including Word and Excel to perform tasks efficiently and accurately.
