Trident Technical College is seeking a Plumbing Instructor to teach introductory plumbing courses in our Engineering and Construction program. The successful candidate will prepare students for entry-level employment and apprenticeship pathways by delivering hands-on industry-aligned instruction in plumbing fundamentals. This position will begin in early August.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced plumbing professional who is interested in sharing their knowledge mentoring students and shaping the next generation of skilled plumbers.
The duties and instructional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teach basic plumbing courses covering topics such as:
Plumbing tools and safety
Plumbing codes and standards
Pipe materials fittings and installation
Water supply and drainage systems for standard residential fixtures
Basic math measurements blueprint reading and basic layout
Deliver engaging classroom and lab instruction to diverse student populations.
Emphasize safety professionalism and workplace best practices.
Develop or follow approved course syllabi.
Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain plumbing lab equipment and promote safety.
Support student success retention and workforce readiness.
Schedule courses order textbooks and any other aspects to operate the program.
Journeyman-level plumbing experience or higher
Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience
High school diploma or GED.
Strong understanding of basic plumbing principles and codes.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to beginner-level students.
Commitment to student learning and workforce preparation.
Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
State plumbing license (Residential or Mechanical) or Journeyman certification.
Teaching training or mentoring experience (formal or informal).
Experience working with apprentices or entry-level workers.
Familiarity with community college or technical education environments.
