About the Role
As a Chief Veterinary Medical Officer (Medical Director) you will take on a high-impact leadership role guiding the veterinary team while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and hospital operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Working on the floor 3-4 days per week balancing leadership duties with clinical practice.
- Managing and mentoring a team of specialists and emergency veterinarians.
- Developing and upholding hospital-wide medical protocols to ensure excellence in patient care.
- Partnering with hospital leadership to create strategic growth plans and ensure financial success.
- Leading team meetings performance reviews and staff development initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with veterinary regulations and industry best practices.
- Fostering a collaborative team-driven hospital culture that prioritizes innovation and patient-centered care.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent.
- Must be board-eligible or board-certified.
- Active Tennessee veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain one licensure transfer fees covered).
- 5 years of Emergency Veterinary Medicine experience preferred.
- Previous Medical Director or leadership experience required.
- Federal DEA license or eligibility to obtain upon hire.
- Proficiency in internal medicine diagnostics surgery and emergency care.
- Proven ability to build and lead successful veterinary teams.
- Strong emotional intelligence communication and leadership skills.
