We are seeking a Chief Veterinary Medical Officer (Medical Director) to lead a premier specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in Chattanooga TN. About the Role

As a Chief Veterinary Medical Officer (Medical Director) you will take on a high-impact leadership role guiding the veterinary team while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and hospital operations. Key responsibilities include:

Working on the floor 3-4 days per week balancing leadership duties with clinical practice.
Managing and mentoring a team of specialists and emergency veterinarians.
Developing and upholding hospital-wide medical protocols to ensure excellence in patient care.
Partnering with hospital leadership to create strategic growth plans and ensure financial success.
Leading team meetings performance reviews and staff development initiatives.
Ensuring compliance with veterinary regulations and industry best practices.
Fostering a collaborative team-driven hospital culture that prioritizes innovation and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent.
Must be board-eligible or board-certified.
Active Tennessee veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain one licensure transfer fees covered).
5 years of Emergency Veterinary Medicine experience preferred.
Previous Medical Director or leadership experience required.
Federal DEA license or eligibility to obtain upon hire.
Proficiency in internal medicine diagnostics surgery and emergency care.
Proven ability to build and lead successful veterinary teams.
Strong emotional intelligence communication and leadership skills.
