OIPA Engineer
Be responsible for the Oracle Insurance Policy Administration for the RiverSource business. Work closely with customers business analysts technology and project teams to understand business requirements drive analysis and design of technical solutions aligned with business and technology strategies and comply with organizational architectural standards. Provide technical guidance to the development team throughout the software lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Create low level design documents including code samples and outlines and detailed engineering specifications based on complex business user and non-functional requirements such as performance and reliability. Write code that adheres to coding standards procedures and techniques. Maintain the integrity of existing program logic according to specifications.
Participate in the code review process to ensure development work adheres to standards and specifications including peer reviews and external code reviews. Ensure quality of work completed by vendor partners. Write and revise system design and operations documentation and provide required inputs for operational support manuals.
Unit test all code and programs prior to release to quality assurance and resolve unit test issues. Assist quality assurance in identifying test cases and creating test data. Respond to inquiries and issues as code moves through the testing process.
Provide mentoring and direction to junior members of the application development team. Support governance oversight to ensure project adherence to development standards policies tools and procedures.
Work with project teams and business stakeholders to understand project goals and requirements. Participate in design walkthroughs. Evaluate interrelationships between applications and design effective interfaces.
Improve system performance reliability and resource utilization. Track exceptions to standards and support timely resolution. Perform root cause analysis for production issues and propose corrective actions.
Maintain up-to-date business domain knowledge and technical skills. Provide input on development tools and best practices. Work effectively in a team environment to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science Engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Five to seven years of experience with Oracle Insurance Policy Administration.
Five to seven years of experience with SQL and XML.
Two to three years of experience developing applications on cloud platforms such as AWS Azure or GCP.
Experience with development tools including Visual Studio Git SQL Server Management Studio and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
Experience in SQL development including views stored procedures and functions.
Ability to write quality code following best practices and guidelines.
Strong problem-solving organizational and communication skills.
Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Full stack development experience using AWS services.
Knowledge of Unix or Linux shell scripting.
Experience with container technologies such as Docker EKS or ECS.
Experience with AI or MLOps.
Ability to translate business needs into software designs.
Strong analytical and business skills to balance technical and business objectives.
Understanding of software tools frameworks algorithms and architectures.
Ability to apply engineering knowledge across multiple technologies and programs.
