Join our close-knit Chemical Management team in Unity Lab Services where we provide integrated lab services support and supply management tailored to our customers unique needs. Were seeking an upbeat Chemical Management Specialist to manage chemical inventory and ensure labs remain stocked compliant and running efficiently.

A day in the Life:

  • Verify chemical inventory levels locations and expiration dates by performing bench audits and full-cycle counts using barcode scanners.
  • Receive inspect label and store incoming chemical shipments according to compatibility guidelines and IATA/DOT regulations.
  • Pick pack and stage chemical orders for distribution or disposal maintaining 100% accuracy and adherence to storage protocols.
  • Read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to apply accurate handling storage and spill-response procedures.
  • Identify and help resolve discrepancies in chemical handling storage conditions or inventory records.
  • Collaborate closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and team members to uphold safety standards refine workflows and train new team members.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by management.

Keys to Success:

Education

A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent education (GED) required

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in a laboratory warehouse or similar environment
  • Associates degree in relevant field with 0 years of experience
  • Customer-service experience in a laboratory warehouse or similar environment preferred.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel Outlook Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail organizational skills and a safety-first approach.
  • Ability to read and understand SDS documentation and IATA/DOT labeling requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Bilingual skills valued.
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP environments and laboratory safety protocols preferred

  • Valid drivers license may be required for some positions

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline. Personal protective equipment such as lab coats coveralls facemasks and steel-toe shoes is often required. The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs. Standing walking and manual material handling of chemical containers are frequent activities sometimes in varied temperature environments. Overtime work may also be necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $23.02$34.53.
