1. Lead the Graduate Nursing and Undergraduate Nursing departments and programs as they exercise their responsibilities. Coordinate with the Dean for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to enact new initiatives that affect nursing programs. Supervise the graduate and undergraduate nursing departments and programs. Plan propose/ recommend/monitor budgets recruit and assign faculty/staff and support the development improvement and retention of these programs.
2. Plan recommend and monitor budgets that reflect the strategic goals of the nursing departments. Coordinate with the Dean to ensure adequate funding for the nursing programs including physical resources clinical sites equipment and personnel to achieve program outcomes of the Department of Undergraduate Nursing and the Department of Graduate Nursing.
3. Promote and support department/program faculty and staff professional development and training; assess and evaluate overall outcomes and performance of faculty and staff. Evaluate nursing faculty to include professional development plans professional development reports tenure and promotion processes and other personnel processes; submit final evaluation/submission to the Dean.
4. Complete and review for submission all annual and periodic regulatory and accreditation reports including the MNBON annual report AACN annual report all CCNE reports and all ad hoc requests. Ensure nursing faculty have the appropriate academic credentials and experiential background as well as licensure and/or certification for the areas in which they teach. Coordinate with the Dean (and Provost as needed) for final review of reports prior to submission.
5. Lead the programs curricula development ensuring alignment with appropriate standards and guidelines for the degree and/or certificate program. Ensure all curricula design promotes student achievement of the expected learning outcomes. Evaluate and assess the nursing curricula including ensuring periodic review of all course outcomes and program outcomes for existing proposed and new programs. Prepare scheduled reports (annually) of assessment outcomes to Dean and university (as required) for continued evaluation and HLC verification. Foster commitment to social justice anti-racism and equity in the curriculum and communities of practice.
6. Foster and maintain relationships with clinical agencies and community partners. Coordinate with clinical placement coordinators of each nursing department on the contracts and MOUs related to nursing clinical placements and agreements for core nursing resources. Examples may include but not limited to MERC Typhon CAS Clinician Nexus and Mayo DNAP.
7. Serve as an appeal entity in advance of the Dean for students challenging admission or progression decisions within the Department of Undergraduate Nursing and the Department of Graduate Nursing.
8. Represent the interests and concerns of the University by serving on relevant committees and councils and at conferences and professional meetings in the Minnesota State system state and national level. Serve on university committees. Develop and maintain internal and external relationships to support program and scholarship opportunities.
9. Encourage support and contribute to grant writing on the local state and federal levels to support the mission vision and program outcomes of the nursing programs while in alignment with the mission vision and strategic plan for the CoNHS and WSU. Provide oversight of grants received to ensure grant responsibilities are fulfilled according to the appropriate state or federal guidelines. Keep the Dean informed on the status of grants.
10. Coordinate marketing and publicity efforts related to nursing programs including written spoken and virtual efforts within budget. Ensure consistency with WSU branding and accreditation requirements collaborating efforts with the Dean and University Communications.
11. Serve as a member of the Presidents Cabinet and Council of Administrators. Collaborate with other leaders of the university. Lead or serve on various committees.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean Provost or University President.
