POSITION SUMMARY:
The District Safety Security and Facilities Supervisor will develop implement and oversee district-wide safety emergency response and accident prevention programs. This role ensures compliance with local state and federal safety regulations while fostering partnerships with first responders and emergency agencies. The coordinator supports school and site-level safety planning staff training and incident response working collaboratively with district and school staff to promote a safe environment for students employees and the public.
Responsibilities and Expectations:
The Safety Security and Facilities Supervisor supports the Superintendent and district leadership in the effective coordination of district-wide safety security and facilities operations. The Supervisor provides strategic operational and compliance-focused leadership to ensure safe secure and well-maintained learning and working environments for students staff and the community. Key responsibilities include:
Emergency Preparedness and Response
Develop implement and maintain the Districts Comprehensive Emergency Response and Recovery Plan.
Serve as Safety Officer and coordinate incident command during drills and emergencies.
Assist schools in developing and maintaining building-specific emergency preparedness plans consistent with the districts continuity of operations plan.
Coordinate and monitor emergency drills; provide training and support to building staff.
Maintain and coordinate the districts emergency communication and notification systems.
Lead the planning of response coordination with emergency agencies as part of district preparedness.
Respond to all notification systems ensuring communication and support are provided as needed
Coordinate the establishment of district level incident command structures as needed for various emergencies
Facilities Planning
Coordinates and inspects work performed by outside contractors; prepares and/or reviews specifications and bids for facilities projects and services.
Maintains accurate records and drawings for buildings site development utilities and construction/remodel projects.
Coordinate the purpose and use of district facilities
Coordinate planning for future use of district facilities in conjunction with Superintendent CFO maintenance supervisor cabinet school board
Gather information related to future facility planning (building use building needs and renovations property use/sale property acquisition etc.)
Coordinate data in OSPIs ICOS system on school facilities in conjunction with maintenance supervisor
Safety and Loss Prevention
Monitor compliance with OSHA WISHA ADA and related safety regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits workplace inspections and accident investigations.
Maintain the Districts Hazard Communication Program including oversight of chemical inventories and disposal practices.
Monitor and respond to environmental safety concerns (e.g. indoor air quality hazardous materials).
Review accident/loss data and implement strategies to reduce future incidents.
Training and Compliance
Develop and administer safety and emergency preparedness training for district staff.
Maintain documentation of all safety training and incident reporting.
Provide consultation to administrators and staff on safety accommodations including ADA compliance.
Collaborate with school safety committees and district departments to support best practices.
Technology and Security Systems Oversight
Coordinate installation use and maintenance of access control video surveillance and alarm systems in partnership with IT and maintenance departments.
Provide technical training for staff related to safety/security systems.
Program Development and Grant Support
Research write and manage grant proposals related to safety and emergency management.
Assist in monitoring budgets tied to emergency management safety and related operations.
Supervisory Duties (if applicable)
May supervise safety-related staff (e.g. security personnel).
Oversee scheduling performance and training of assigned staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree (or related industry experience) in Emergency Management Public Safety Business or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and implementing emergency and safety programs preferably in educational or government settings.
Certification in emergency preparedness protocols (ICS NIMS etc.) or willingness to obtain.
Knowledge of occupational safety laws and emergency preparedness standards.
Strong communication organizational and project management skills.
Valid Washington State Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual Spanish
OSHA 30-hour certification.
Leadership experience with safety and security management
Leadership experience with facility planning
Experience with school district operations
Playground Safety Inspector Certification.
Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or equivalent.
Experience working with K12 schools or other distributed work environments.
Other
Strong written and oral communication skills using both formal and informal styles as appropriate for audience and purpose
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively and efficiently
Participate in interviews for new department staff.
Assist in end of year compliance reporting
Proficient technology skills: Microsoft Office Suite Google Workspace web-based data management systems
Use technology for communication presentations training and workshops.
Positive attitude inclusive of demonstrated analyzing problem solving decision making and writing competencies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and intermittently works near video displays. Selection for interview is based on evaluation of complete application file. Employment offer is based on employee evaluations discipline history and attendance records training and experience references and interview results. Hourly rate placement contingent upon verification of related experience.

Employment contingent upon completion and verification of form information and background check with fee to be paid by applicant.
Pay for contracted classified employees is distributed once/month on the last business day of the month. Pay for employees who work less than full year is spread through August. Questions concerning pay processes may be directed to the Personnel Office.

BENEFIT INFORMATION
Eligibility for SEBB medical dental vision life insurance AD&D and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs/day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities: Omni 403(b) and Deferred Compensation Plan. Personal leave vacation leave (260-day employees only) and sick leave prorated based on FTE.
