Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
At this level incumbents perform basic operational support tasks under close supervision. Duties may include a combination of inventory handling clerical custodial and light mobile equipment operation tasks in a warehouse environment.

  • Receipts year-round shipments of USDA or other products.

  • Organizes USDA food inventory by kind and documents inventory data for tracking purposes.

  • Assembles and loads outgoing shipments to school food authorities or recipient agencies.

  • Reviews order allocations for accuracy.

  • Aids with scheduling the USDA food pickup appointments for school food authorities or recipient agencies.

  • Performs duties in absence of Warehouse Manager.

  • Assist with tracking of recipient entities (school systems childcare programs etc.) food distribution reports.

  • Performs duties in absence of Warehouse Manager.

  • Monitors and documents incoming shipments of USDA commodities through the USDA Webs Supply Chain Management System and the LDAF food distribution ordering and inventory tracking system in absence of Warehouse Manager.

  • Aids in maintenance and implementation of perpetual inventory records.

  • Helps maintain LDAF food distribution ordering and inventory tracking system database to ensure program accuracy/integrity.

  • Aids in monitoring the safety and security of the physical plant and the food storage inside which includes security surveillance/alarm and temperature monitoring.

  • Performs routine facility and ground cleaning/sanitation.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Functional Requirements:
Moderate light lifting 30 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds

Reaching above shoulders

Walking and standing for long periods

Climbing stairs and occasionally ladders

Climbing on and off Forklift and trucks


Environmental Factors:
Working indoors and occasionally outdoors

May be required to wear a freezer suit

May be required to wear appropriate safety protection

Slippery and uneven walking surfaces

Working in excessive cold for moderate periods of time

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:
  • Full-time- this position may be filled by probation or by promotion of a classified employee of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry serving with permanent status.
  • Applicants who are not permanent employees of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry will be required to serve a probationary period up to 24 months.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
