Job Summary

Total compensation for this position is based on theHavergal Faculty Grid plus a $6500 leadership stipend with final placementdetermined by recognized teaching years degrees and Additional Qualifications(AQs). While the current faculty grid ranges from $72185 $103105 forearly-career faculty and $103457 $135699 for those with six or more yearsof experience these levels are subject to increase for the academicyear.

The Position:

Reporting to the Head of the Upper School theDirector of Student Leadership leads the development and oversight of the UpperSchool student leadership experience at Havergal addition to theexpectations of the faculty role the Director of Student Leadership supportsthe Prefect team the faculty Prefect mentors as well as the co-curricularclub and competitive club faculty advisors in the Senior School. This rolepartners with Assistant Heads of Upper School (Middle and Senior Divisions) aswell as the Head of the Junior School and the Assistant Head Junior School toholistically implement Havergals leadership attributes in a model thatsupports all students (JK-12) in developing their capacity to lead effectively.

SpecificAccountabilities:

  • Supportsthe Head of the Upper School to operationalize Havergals leadership attributesin a mission-aligned way and reflects the Portrait of a Grad.
  • Work withthe Assistant Heads of Upper School (Middle and Senior Divisions) the Head ofthe Junior School and the Assistant Head Junior School to ensure theattributes are implemented developmentally from JK-12 and that new students areinducted into leadership development.
  • Designand lead leadership workshops including planning and coordinating theleadership retreat for incoming grade 12 student leaders.
  • Supportthe development and growth of faculty advisors for formal leaders (ClubAdvisors Competitive Club Advisors Prefect Mentors).
  • Lead andmanage the Senior School club programming including the competitive clubprograms.
  • Coordinatewith the Assistant Head of Upper School Senior Division (responsible for HouseCaptains and House Advisors) to ensure a collaborative student leadershipexperience.
  • Assistwith budget management for the student leadership program.
  • Managethe student election process including communications to students and parentsabout the process and its results (including elections for Prefects HouseCaptains House Executive Student Grade Representatives Club Heads CommunityPartnership Heads and Performing Arts Heads).
  • Coordinateall club and new club applications faculty supervision and attendance.
  • Connectand collaborate with all COSSOT leaders in the network to coordinate schedulesand provide appropriate programming at Havergal and elsewhere. Collaborate withthe Assistant Head of US Senior Division to identify dates and ensure COSSOTprogramming works within the Havergal calendar.
  • Lead theSocial Prefects in planning and organizing COSSOT events includingsemi-formals.

Qualifications Knowledge and Experience

  • Post-secondary education including OCT ingood standing.
  • Exemplary teaching experience in an academicmiddle or secondary school.
  • Experience in an independent school is anasset.
  • Previous work on developing student leaders.
  • Previous leadership experience in aneducational setting.
  • An ability and desire to work in acollaborative environment.
  • Strong interpersonal organizationaltime-management and communication skills.
  • Commitment toward continued professionaldevelopment and growth.
  • Demonstrated energy commitment and areadiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life ofthe school community.
