Salary Range: $76955.98 - $93848.75 per annum. Placement within the range is typically between the minimum and midpoint and based on qualifications and experience subject matter expertise and internal equity with consideration for how the candidate is developing meets or exceeds the roles requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY
Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide non-partisan services to the institution of Parliament and its elected members in the areas of procedural advice administrative support and information services. The Legislative Assembly operates under the authority of the Constitution Actand the Legislative Assembly Management CommitteeAct. The Legislative Assembly is an autonomous employer separate from the BC Public Service and the administrative framework of government ministries and agencies.
The Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel (OLCPC) is seeking a methodical resourceful and detail-oriented individual for the regular full-time position of Legislative Editor and Paralegal.
Reporting to the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel (LCPC) the Legislative Editor and Paralegal (LEP)s primary area of focus is supporting the legislative drafting functions of the OLCPC by helping ensure that draft legislation is prepared in accordance with current legislative drafting conventions and standards in use in British Columbia. The LEP employs specialized expertise in textual interpretation and analysis to edit highly confidential draft legislation prepared by the LCPC and other lawyer drafters. The LEP conducts research into legislative history statutory interpretation and other topics relevant to drafting requests at the direction of the LCPC or other lawyer drafters and also provides broader legal research and support services to the LCPC and other lawyers.
The LEP assists the LCPC in the preparation of bills for publication by the Kings Printer and tracks draft legislation before the House through the various legislative carrying out these responsibilities the LEP must ensure the accuracy and integrity of legislative materials as errors may have legal implications and create reputational risk for the OLCPC the broader Legislative Assembly Administration or the Legislative Assembly as an institution. The work often requires meeting strict and externally driven timelines while maintaining high-quality outputs.
