The Assistant Director for Family Help Youth Justice and Safeguarding will be the driving force behind key partnerships leading on strategically leading the refocused Family Help Youth Justice and safeguarding including the adolescent safeguarding portfolio.
You will work with our children families and communities in the production and approval of strategies and plans for which are consistent with the overall aims and objectives of the Council. This includes taking a strategic lead on Family Services partnership work around the VAWG and Serious Violence strategies.
You will be leading on delivering a child centred whole family approach to supporting children to remain with their families when possible. Crucially you will lead on protecting children and young people from harm at the earliest opportunity and ultimately improve their outcomes.
Integral to this post is to provide the leadership on youth justice matters which means you will create and sustain influential relationships with a range of internal and external partners stakeholders and our communities to create and embed a shared sense of purpose responsibility and action in response to the unique needs of children and young people who come into contact with the youth justice system
A key workstream you will have is to implement the creation and development of the family help teams. This will entail extensive relational work between multi-agency partners families and the Council by creating and sustaining strong partnerships to deliver the social care reforms to ensure the best outcomes for Barnet children and families. This will include supporting the work of the Multi Agency partnership to deliver the MACPT as part of new legislative duties.
In essence you will ensure the Councils statutory functions and responsibilities for safeguarding and youth justice are fulfilled in and out of hours of usual business hours.
A key element of the work will be to work as part of a Senior Leadership Team to develop Barnets response to the social care reforms and any subsequent development and implementation into practice of an appropriate evidence based theoretical social work practice model to drive improvement at pace and deliver practice excellence.
The role requires a qualified and registered social worker with the ability to manage both projects and finances. A confident credible leader youll have what it takes to network influence and inspire in this important role.
We are looking for aspiring system Leaders who can create the right culture and environment for the childrens workforce to flourish who can work collaboratively with key stakeholders within and external to the council. The post holder will work closely with elected Members and senior council officers to deliver the Councils priorities and Children and Young Peoples Plan and will have a strong background in driving excellent outcomes for children and young people.
The post holder will be passionate about engaging children young people and their families obtaining feedback listening to their ideas and promoting co-production of services policies and plans.
