Cost Estimating Specialist

The Department
The Performance Excellence department is the analytical heart of our strategic project decisions. This is where technology data and process optimization come together. You will work closely with engineering procurement and project management within an international high-tech environment. The Role
As a Cost Estimating Specialist you provide accurate reliable and timely cost estimates for a wide range of CAPEX and OPEX projects within Teijin Aramid. You analyze technical requirements risks market data and project scope and translate these into cost models that directly influence our decision-making.

You report to the Manager Performance Excellence. While you do not have direct reports you play a crucial expert role: you provide specialized cost-estimating consultancy to project teams to ensure accuracy technical alignment.

You advise project teams validate technical assumptions and ensure that all cost estimates are aligned with design procurement and this position you form the financial backbone of our projects and investments.

Responsibilities

• Preparing accurate cost estimates based on technical documents drawings and P&IDs.
• Breaking down project scope into cost components (materials labor equipment subcontracting).
• Maintaining and using historical cost data benchmarks and market analyses.
• Conducting risk and scenario analyses and determining contingency budgets.
• Aligning technical assumptions with engineering procurement and project teams.
• Supporting procurement with quotations bid evaluations and supplier comparisons.
• Documenting and presenting cost reports assumptions and estimation methodologies.
• Ensuring full compliance and audit-ready documentation within project governance.

Your Profile
You hold a bachelors or masters degree in mechanical Chemical or Civil Engineering or in Industrial Technology. With 58 years of experience in cost estimation within engineering chemical or industrial project environments you bring the technical depth and practical expertise needed to support our projects in an accurate predictable and future-proof way.

In addition you bring:

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear cost models.
• Experience with tools such as Primavera MS Project SAP CostX or similar.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional advisory mindset.
• Accuracy proactivity and a strong sense of quality and structure.

• Attractive salary This position falls within our CLA salary scale 10 (4600 to 6900 gross per month) based on experience and education.
