Job Summary

INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

The Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA) is the agency that administers and enforces state laws relating to the protection of life health safety and welfare of Arizonas employees. This includes laws relating to workers compensation occupational safety and health payment of wages and child labor.

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Collector II position is to collect monies owed to the State the Industrial Commission or the Special Fund.

This position may offer a hybrid remote work schedule (requiring some in office work days each week) within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility autonomy and trust. Across our many agencies boards and commissions many State employees participate in the States Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes in offices and in hoteling spaces. All work including remote work should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.

Job Duties:

The Collector II position: (1) ensures that all of the collection units activities are performed thoroughly professionally in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable laws; (2) ensures that the unit generates high-quality work product; and (3) performs a variety of collection activities including calling employers posting/taking payment sending invoices/statements etc.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Arizona administrative practices and procedures and personnel rules and requirements.
Federal State and agency laws pertaining to debt collection.
Federal and State law pertaining to bankruptcy.
The purposes goals policies procedures and practices of the Commission and the Accounting Division.
Collections practices methods procedures and tools including Internet tools databases and other sources of information
relevant to the collections efforts (MVD DES Accurint Corporation Commission Registry of Contractors PACER County
Assessor Records).
Collections technology.
Accounting bookkeeping mathematics (including interest calculations) and financial statements.
State and agency accounting software/systems.

Skills in:

Clear and concise oral and written communication including attention to detail.
Use of computers and other technical devices/programs/software.
Interpersonal communication and mentoring.
Problem-solving ingenuity and decision-making.

Tracing and locating persons with delinquent accounts.

provide input.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate will:
Have a college degree
Have two years experience in a collections-related profession.
Be bi-lingual (Spanish)

Retirement:

You will be eligible to participate in the state employee health/disability insurance plan and you are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). ASRS participation may begin immediately or upon your 27th week of employment. Contributions are matched by the employer.
