The Opportunity
Monash University is seeking a Research Officer to support the Monash BDI Organoid Program a growing research initiative within the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute.
This is a hands-on laboratory role supporting world-class researchers using organoid technologies to study biology disease and personalised medicine. You will contribute directly to the delivery of high-impact research by providing technical experimental and operational support across a range of laboratory activities.
Working closely with researchers clinicians and program users you will help ensure the smooth operation of the organoid platform applying strong technical skills sound judgement and attention to detail in a dynamic research environment.
This role is well suited to research professional who enjoy practical bench work values collaboration and is motivated by laboratory work that supports researchers and translates to improved patient outcomes.
Your Impact
In this role you will
Perform hands-on laboratory work including 2D cell culture and organoid culture
Prepare reagents and biological materials and support experimental workflows
Assist with tissue processing histological handling and organoid expansion
Conduct biological assays and contribute to data collection and analysis
Maintain laboratory facilities equipment stocks and ordering systems
Support researchers and program users including coordination via the iLab platform
Ensure compliance with research protocols safety standards and regulatory requirements
Contribute to documentation reporting and continuous improvement activities
About You
You are a technically capable and well-organised research professional who enjoys contributing to collaborative discovery-driven science. You are comfortable working independently under general direction and take pride in maintaining high laboratory standards.
You will bring
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Demonstrated experience in 2D cell culture with organoid culture experience highly regarded
Strong technical analytical and organisational skills
High attention to detail and the ability to follow and optimise laboratory protocols
Confidence using laboratory systems data tools and new software
Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
A strong commitment to safety ethics and quality in research
