Job Summary

The Noise & Vibration Monitoring Technician is responsible for supporting project compliance by monitoring real-time noise and vibration data investigating alerts and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all field-installed monitoring equipment. This role involves coordinating with construction teams to understand site activities maintaining and calibrating monitoring devices and preparing clear documentation to support project reporting.

The salary range for this position is $65000 CAD - $75000 CAD plus additional benefits. 

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring Analysis & Alert Response

  • Monitor and interpret real-time noise and vibration data from installed monitoring equipment.
  • Respond promptly to alerts investigate potential causes and determine whether events are genuine or false.
  • Prepare concise investigation notes and summaries for the project team.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved cases to the Environmental Director.

Equipment Maintenance & Calibration

  • Ensure all monitoring devices are operating correctly through regular checks and troubleshooting.
  • Replace batteries coordinate laboratory calibrations and maintain accurate calibration records.
  • Install configure and commission replacement vibration monitors when required.
  • Maintain uptodate logs for equipment SIM cards and system configurations.

Field Coordination & Site Liaison

  • Communicate with construction teams to understand ongoing or planned activities that may contribute to noise and vibration events.
  • Utilize site activity information to support accurate interpretation of monitoring data and investigation results.

Technical Problem-Solving & Independent DecisionMaking

  • Apply sound judgment and initiative to resolve routine technical issues independently.
  • Identify when escalation is necessary to ensure accurate reporting and reliable system performance.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum degree or diploma; specialized in Acoustics Engineering Math or Technology is an asset.
  • Ontario G Class Drivers License is required.
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership) of Canadian Acoustical Association or equivalent professional body is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of noise and vibration monitoring concepts.
  • Prior experience in environmental monitoring geotechnical instrumentation or construction related activities is an asset.
  • Understanding of local regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret vibration time-history plots and values.    
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow project procedures.   
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings.   
  • Ability to troubleshoot monitoring hardware/software at a basic level. 
  • Competence with Excel or equivalent tools for simple data checks and reporting.
