We are seeking a passionate and experiencedSpecialEducationDirectorto lead ourspecialeducation department and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Job Summary:
TheSpecialEducationDirectoris responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the schoolsspecialeducation programs. This role involves ensuring compliance withIDEA Section 504 and other relevant laws providing leadership tospecialeducation staff and supporting students with disabilities to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop implement and monitorspecialeducation programs understate and federal laws.
Oversee theIndividualizedEducation Program (IEP)process ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
Supervise mentor and provide professional development forspecialeducation teachers and support staff.
Collaborate with school leadership generaleducation teachers and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.
Managespecialeducation budgets and resources effectively.
Conduct student evaluations assessments and eligibility determinations.
Serve as a liaison between the school parents and external agencies to coordinate services.
Stay up-to-date withbest practices policies and legal requirementsinspecialeducation.
Advocate for students with disabilities and foster an inclusive school culture.
Qualifications:
Masters degreeinSpecialEducationEducational Leadership or a related field.
Valid New Mexico administrative licenseor eligibility to obtain one.
Minimum ofthree (3) years of experienceinspecialeducation with leadership or administrative experience preferred.
Strong knowledge ofspecialeducation laws IEP development and instructional strategies.
Excellent leadership organizational and communication skills.
Experience working in acharter school environmentis a plus.
