We are seeking a patient caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Sheffield starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping pupils with special educational needs achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision. You will work closely with the SENCO class teachers and other support staff to provide targeted support for pupils with a range of additional needs including autism (ASC) ADHD SEMH and other learning difficulties.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis helping them access the curriculum build confidence and develop key skills. Your role will be essential in creating a safe and positive learning environment where pupils feel supported and valued.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN
Assist pupils with academic tasks communication and social development
Implement strategies from EHCPs and individual support plans
Promote positive behaviour independence and confidence
Support pupils during lessons transitions and playtimes
Monitor record and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO
Work collaboratively with teachers SENCO and support staff
Create a safe inclusive and supportive learning environment
Encourage social interaction and peer engagement
Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
