Job Purpose & Position Overview: To perform laboratory testing for WCHS laboratory. This position is a 7 on 7 off position working Wednesday-Tuesday on your week to work. Shift is 7 PM to 730 AM. This position will be Every Other Weekend during the week you work. Holidays will be worked if it is your scheduled shift week. Overtime is earned at >80 hours a pay period. THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE THE ABILITY TO MANAGE WORKFLOW WHILE WORKING INDEPENDENTLY ON OVERNIGHTS. MULTITASKING ABILITY TO ADJUST PRIORITIES AND RESPONDING TO CODES & TRAUMAS IS ESSENTIAL. Skilled at specimen acquisition. Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities: Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe s core mission vision and values Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager the MT/MLT provides technical support by performing analyses tests and procedures that assist in the prevention diagnosis or treatment of diseases. Accessioning/ ordering tests in the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and processing specimens with referral to the reference laboratories. Operates maintains and calibrates the equipment used to ensure it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results Performs basic troubleshooting as needed Maintain documentation according to regulatory agencies and write laboratory policies and procedures. Exposure to infectious clinical specimens on a regular basis so adherence to sterilization and infection control procedures is required. This position is responsible for using his/her skill accuracy proficiency and dedication to work in all laboratory sections performing analytical testing on patients specimens. Candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Candidate must be comfortable with routine phlebotomy. Duties listed are only an illustration of various types of work performed. Qualifications/Skills: Medical Laboratory Technician Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with an Associate s degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MLT(ASCP) MLT(AMT) CLT(NCA). Medical Technologist Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with a bachelor s degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MT(ASCP) MT(AMT) CLS(NCA). Minimum of one year of experience preferred. Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices including infection control requirements chemical and biological hazards. Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies and standards. Training Requirements: N/A Physical Requirements: Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs. Regularly required to walk stand and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard phone and various office equipment. Cognitive Requirements: Reading writing calculating Above average social interaction skills Reasoning/Analysis Works with minimal to no supervision. Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when situations change. Language Requirements: Must possess the ability to read write and speak the English language fluently. Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills. Certificates Licenses & Registrations: All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301 Subpart D Section 1301.31 C and D which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
