Pay Rate:$35.41 per hour plus shift premiumCategory/Shift: Hourly Full-Time PermanentAbout the Role: This position reports to the Wood Processing Team in Grande Prairie Alberta Canada. The Grande Prairie mill is a 1000 tonne per day Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp currently operates with approximately 390 mill employees in a high performance results oriented FunctionsThis role is responsible for operating in the Wood Room Wood Yard and Chip Screen Room processes as required. Wood Processing Operators may operate the Portal Yard Crane material handlers in the Wood Yard and operate heavy mobile equipment to support chip screening and waste wood fuel (biomass) AccountabilitiesSafetyParticipate in the safety health and environmental activities in accordance with standards established by the Grande Prairie MillAdhere to all safe practices annual health surveillance checks and have the ability to wear a respirator or SCBA/SABA as mobile and process equipmentComplete daily mobile equipment inspection reportsOperate the Portal Yard Crane and material handlers unloading trucks to supply the Wood Room with wood fiberOperate Caterpillar 988 and 990 Wheel LoaderOperate Wood Processing equipmentTroubleshoot Wood Room Screen Room and biomass process equipmentComplete process tours and process equipment inspectionsClean and wash equipment as well as housekeeping dutiesTake process samples for lab analysisShut down startup process equipment and complete equipment isolationsIssue permits: Safe Work Confined Space and Hot WorkOther duties as assignedWork Systems ImprovementsContribute to the improvement and maintenance of technical standards work instructions and procedures identifying and implementing changes as necessaryParticipate in deliberate improvement projectsParticipate in maintenance basic care programsAbout You: Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesCore CompetenciesQuality Orientation and Standards ComplianceTime Management Planning and OrganizingDevelopment and Continual LearningProblem SolvingAccountability and DependabilityDecision Making and JudgmentCommunicationTeamworkQualificationsRequired qualifications include:High school grade 12 diploma or GEDWilling to work a compressed 12-hour shift (days nights and weekends)Willing and able to work overtimeExperience operating heavy equipmentCapability using a computer for record keeping and documentationWilling and able to work in a hot humid cold and noisy environmentAbility to communicate effectively and constructively with good verbal and written English skillsStrong interpersonal and organizational skillsComprehend work instructions and set priorities with the ability to work independently as well as part of the team to safely accomplish objectivesProactive approach to troubleshooting/problem identificationAble to perform physically demanding workDemonstrated safety leadershipMechanical aptitudePreferred qualifications include:Heavy equipment operator training certificationAbout Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF):Our GCF business helps customers transform renewable cellulose fibers into essential everyday products.
