Job Summary

Job Summary (List Format):

- Provide inpatient and outpatient Physical Therapy (PT) evaluations and treatments at SEARHCs Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center a 25-bed critical access hospital in Sitka Alaska.
- Conduct patient assessments formulate therapy diagnoses establish and implement individualized treatment plans and modify plans based on patient progress for a diverse population with varying diagnoses and functional needs.
- Serve as the primary therapy provider collaborating with interdisciplinary teams attending care conferences and ensuring appropriate care plans and equipment are in place prior to patient discharge.
- Document all patient encounters treatments recommendations and progress according to hospital and regulatory standards for continuity of care and reimbursement.
- Educate patients families and caregivers on home exercise programs self-care strategies and use of adaptive equipment ensuring clarity and cultural sensitivity.
- Direct and supervise support staff students or interns as assigned.
- Participate in program development quality improvement initiatives problem solving and productivity enhancement in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Assist senior staff with administrative duties clinic operations equipment and supply management and billing/reimbursement processes.
- Provide PT services in various settings including off-site locations (schools community clinics senior centers homes etc.) occasionally requiring travel to remote areas by boat or small plane.
- Educate clinical and non-clinical staff provide in-services and participate in committees and health promotion projects as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of PT standards (APTA) hospital policies and continuing education requirements.
- Adhere to confidentiality regulatory safety and quality assurance standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:
- Active Alaska Physical Therapist license at time of submission.
- Entry-level masters or doctorate in Physical Therapy or bachelors degree with additional experience and education.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid drivers license.
- Flu vaccination required.
- Submission of two fingerprint cards upon acceptance.

Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in musculoskeletal assessment PT interventions and use of adaptive equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including public speaking and training.
- Proficiency with computers and healthcare information technology.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams.
- Physical capability for patient handling lifting up to 50 lbs and travel in challenging environments.
- Sound judgment tact and interpersonal skills for working with patients and staff.
