POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible clerical work performing support tasks essential to the successful operation of the States Attorneys Office District Court Division.
***This is a State Authorized Exempt position and is ineligible for membership in a collective bargaining unit.***
STARTING SALARY IS $46169 ANNUALLY/$22.20 HOURLY
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Performs advanced technical level administrative support work which may include supervisory responsibility under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work typically involves performing responsible clerical and secretarial work essential to the successful operation of a specialized function. Work may also include supervision of data entry staff and coordination and work scheduling of the data entry function. Work at this level may also include independent responsibility for a moderately complex clerical process.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Compose draft and types letters and a variety of material often technical in nature such as legal documents or complex reports and correspondence and files motions with courts.
- Enters stores and retrieves data using electronic data management system.
- Obtains MVA traffic records for traffic cases and back-up paralegals on running criminal records.
- Operates a variety of office equipment including personal computer calculator and photocopy machine. Applies various software to work including word processing spreadsheets and graphics.
- May compile assemble. and close out case files enter data into case management system and request necessary documents and reports.
- May assist in sending out supplemental discovery and with Victim/Witness Unit in District Court.
- May provide backup receptionist duties answer telephone and greeting visitors to the office.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of legal nomenclature.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system laws regulations and procedures related to assignment.
- Skill in word processing including setting up and typing of a variety of materials to include letters and reports.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in deciding when to act independently and when to refer situations to a higher authority.
- Ability to perform case control monitoring and coordinating tasks.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work on a cooperative courteous and effective basis with associates officials and representatives of public and private agencies and the public.
