As part of the Long Range Planning Division you will support our Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) this role you will develop strategies tools and marketing campaigns to connect travelers with transportation options. You will lead projects build public education campaigns provide trainings and collaborate with employers and partners across the County.

Our team is looking for a Planner who is committed to and skilled in working on CTR and TDM projects. You should understand the CTR law and ideally have experience implementing programs that carry out this state law. You will hit the ground running and administer the Ride Together Pierce Program the Countys web platform that helps to match travelers with ways to walk bike or take public transportation to their destination. You will be able to manage website updates and marketing the service. You should be able to manage events to incentivize transportation choices and provide training to CTR affected employers about state requirements. Also work well on cross functional teams and coordinate effectively with external and internal partners to advance this work.

You will have an opportunity to work alongside a diverse and talented team of PPW professionals agencies and community leaders to support planning activities by problem-solving and developing innovative solutions to ensure the best services possible for the citizens of Pierce County. Your work will directly shape how Pierce County communities grow by developing foundational guiding policy documents that guide County programs and plans over time.
Throughout the onboarding process you will meet with the Long Range Planning Supervisor and Senior Planner regularly to discuss expectations and set goals for yourself as well as introduce you to the current policies and procedures technology/software and Pierce County Code.

Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Develop requests for proposals bids and consultant contracts; provide management oversight of contracts to ensure compliance with licensing permits and insurance requirements.
  • May represent the Department at internal and external meetings.
  • Effectively persuade inform educate train solicit information motivate and direct a wide variety of individuals or groups.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials employees and the general public.
  • Work a flexible schedule which may include evenings weekends holidays and overtime.

Qualifications

  • Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements
  • Bachelors degree in planning or related field
  • Two years of related planning work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with CTR and TDM programs
  • Marketing experience
  • Experience planning events
