Summary
Serves as the site-level owner for Occupational Safety Health and Environmental programs acting as the facilitys primary point of contact for all safety and environmental compliance. Partners closely with onsite medical staff and plant leadership to maintain a safe healthy and compliant workplace. Ensures adherence to all corporate standards and state and federal regulations while actively driving continuous improvement in the sites safety culture. Authorized and expected to stop any unsafe work practices immediately pending management review. Maintains a dotted-line relationship to the Global H&S Manager to execute corporate and regulatory safety programs consistently across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Is Chairman of the facility Safety Committee
- Ensures the proper execution and effectiveness of all on-going and mandatory safety training (i.e. fork truck driver licensing hot metal handling lockout procedures ladder safety chemical handling respirator use safe use of abrasive grinning equipment and others as needed) in accordance with corporate schedules and locally generated requirements.
- Ensures the completion of all industrial hygiene surveys and workplace safety assessments when required.
- Ensures completion of all job hazard analysis/job safety analysis.
- Is Responsible for the effectiveness of the Behavior Based Safety Program
- Coordinates all accident/injury investigations. Ensures all investigations are completed on time consistent with corporate requirements. Ensures the root causes and human factors of all injuries are accurately identified and proper corrective actions are documented and resolved to prevent recurrence.
- Oversees the assignment of qualified first aid trained employees and emergency responders for all work shifts.
- Monitors workers compensation claims and issue statistical reports periodically on accident rates.
- Is responsible for the successful completion of all safety program requirements as outlined in the Corporate Facilities Excellence Program (FEM) to include but not limited to:
- -Safety Training and training effectiveness
- -Safety hazard identification the resolution
- -EmployeeSafety Awareness
- Participates in the monthly Corporate Global Safety Conferences
- Responsible to the plant manager for safety industrial health and environmental programs plans and policies.
- Works with the Corporate Environmental Manager in ensuring timely submittal of all permitting and licensing requirements appropriate to the facility.
- Works with Management in formulating plant safety and environmental policies consistent with corporate strategies. Ensures employee and facility compliance to all safety and environmental requirements.
- Ensures processes are in place to maintain accurate inventory of MSDS sheets and employees understand their right to know when dealing with hazardous materials
- Safety and health technical degree-4 years orEnvironmental Health and Safety (EH&S) background 1-5 years experience.
- Proficient and knowledgeable of all OSHA requirements.
- Good communication skills
- Sound experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of federal state and local level environmental rules and regulations.
