Job Summary

This position is from approximately March 16 2026 through the end of May 2026 or possibly until the end of the school English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher provides instruction and support to students fin the elementary level in the English Language Education (ELE) Program. The goal of this position is to guide English Learners (EL) toward gaining proficiency in listening speaking reading and writing. This position reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.. Provide individualized English as a Second Language instruction in accordance with MA State Frameworks and WIDA Standards. Plans and implements effective ESL units of study and daily lessons . Demonstrates cultural proficiency and use of effective and culturally relevant instructional practices. Sensitivity to the developmental stages and welfare of children. Administer ACCESS and other required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement ongoing monitoring of student progress and determining when a student is to be exited from the program. Assist in developing English Learner Success Plans for all EL students in collaboration with building administration and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) classroom teachers. Work with classroom teachers to support differentiation of instruction and incorporation of Sheltered Content Instruction (SCI). Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignments within the school district. Assist in compiling and maintaining a file and record of progress for each student and other compliance record keeping. Assist in gathering and reporting data for reporting requirements and other required reports (to the State DESE census grant applications (as needed) annual reports etc.. Establish and maintain communication with parents of students in the program. Engage parents and families in their students learning and acting as a liaison for the school in the community. Participate in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned. Attend IEP Section 504 or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law. Attend and participate in established traditional school-sponsored activities (i.e. back-to-school night open house and other activities customarily attended by classroom teachers and/or faculty members) which may be outside of the regular school hours. Maintain ongoing program of professional growth that satisfies personal expectations as a professional. Other duties as assigned
