We are seeking a Safety Manager to join our team in the Southern California (SoCal) this role you will be responsible for implementing and managing safety and regulatory compliance programs for fiber construction and telecommunications operations throughout SoCal. This role ensures compliance with CA/OSHA and related regulations while supporting injury and incident prevention across project planning field operations and contractor oversight. The Safety Manager works closely with field leadership to promote safe work practices and strengthen a prevention-focused safety culture on high-risk construction projects.

The Role
- Implement maintain and enforce company safety programs in compliance with Cal/OSHA Title 8 OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 and California Labor Code requirements
- Maintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and site-specific safety plans
- Support Cal/OSHA inspections audits and regulatory inquiries including documentation and corrective action follow-up
- Provide safety support for multi-site fiber construction projects including underground and aerial installation
- Ensure compliance and safe work practices for high-hazard activities including confined space entry excavation and trenching overhead and underground power line safety traffic control and electrical safety (NFPA 70E)
- Verify completion and adherence to Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and pre-task plans
- Conduct routine and unannounced field safety inspections and audits; partner with field supervision to correct unsafe conditions and reinforce safe behaviors
- Participate in project planning design reviews and pre-construction meetings to integrate safety requirements
- Support incident and near-miss investigations root cause analysis and corrective action tracking
- Track safety metrics and trends and recommend improvements to reduce risk and prevent incidents
- Assist with contractor and subcontractor safety prequalification onboarding and compliance monitoring
- Travel regularly to active construction sites throughout California and safely access jobsite environments including excavations and right-of-way work areas (/- 25% annually)
Requirements
- 35 years of safety experience in telecommunications utilities or heavy civil construction
- Bachelors degree in Safety Environmental Health Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
- Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8 and California construction safety requirements
- Hands-on experience supporting high-hazard construction activities including confined space excavation/shoring and power line safety
- Ability to work independently across multiple job sites and collaborate effectively with field and project leadership
- Safety certifications such as CHST CSP CIH or equivalent are preferred
- Experience supporting large-scale fiber construction programs and working in union or multi-employer environments is a plus
- Able to travel to various job sites throughout SoCal (/- 25% annually)
- Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a drivers license is required if the role involves driving
- Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR Background Check Drug Screen)
