The Opportunity
Our Capital Development & Engineering team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join them! As part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
As a Senior Process Engineer you will provide technical leadership across process safety risk governance and engineering standards supporting capital projects and operations. Youll address chronic process issues strengthen safety and governance outcomes and ensure engineering solutions are delivered safely on time and within budget while leading and mentoring a direct report.
This role provides the opportunity to influence engineering initiatives across the business with ongoing development support.
What Will You Do
With your analytical hands-on and leadership approach you will:
- provide senior process engineering and process safety leadership across capital projects and operations
- lead technical risk management activities including HAZOP HAZID and governance of safety-critical systems
- investigate chronic process issues and major incidents determining root cause and driving sustainable solutions
- deliver continuous improvement outcomes that strengthen safety reliability and performance
- collaborate across engineering operations and external partners to deliver compliant high-quality engineering outcomes
With a genuine interest to grow and develop your career you will bring:
- a degree qualification in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- extensive experience in process engineering within heavy industry or capital project environments
- a strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
- demonstrated expertise in technical risk evaluation process safety and standards compliance
- the ability to translate business objectives into clear actions and outcomes
- proven leadership capability with experience mentoring and developing others
