Essential Job Functions
- Supervise and direct payroll staff of two to process bi-weekly paychecks for all employees.
- Ensure the processing of new hires transfers promotions terminations etc. is accurate and timely.
- Perform the final payroll audit on all domestic bi-weekly payrolls.
- Process the bi-weekly Canadian payroll.
- Ensure that the Crane Companies maintain payroll tax compliance.
- Research and resolve routine tax notices received from agencies.
- Review and analyze current payroll and tax procedures to recommend process improvements.
- Create and disperse audit reports as requested by management.
- Perform frequent audits to ensure employees are being taxed and paid accurately.
- Lead and assist with large-scale projects and implementations of new processes and procedures.
- Coordinate with Benefits HR Technology Tax and Accounting teams as necessary to ensure processes run smoothly.
- Prepare all reports necessary for monthly quarterly and annual workers compensation audits.
- Other duties as assigned
Other Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of taxation at federal state and local levels inclusive of taxation of employees on visas.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex accounting issues in regards to payroll.
- Ability to be a team-player and work effectively with all levels of employees.
- Proficient at MS Office especially Excel.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and be highly organized.
- Ability to handle payroll system conversions and reports.
Physical Requirements
- Job may require extended sitting or standing use of standard office equipment.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Business Finance or Accounting is preferred.
- 5 or more years of experience with all aspects of payroll in multi states.
- 1 or more years as a Payroll Lead or supervisory experience.
- Experience with ADP Vantage payroll system preferred
Certifications & Licenses
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
