Job Summary
What youd be doing in this role
As Canva continues to scale strong cloud foundations are critical to keeping our platform secure compliant and fast without slowing teams down.
As an Engineering Manager in Cloud Enablement youll lead a high-impact infrastructure team responsible for the foundations that all other teams depend on. Your mission is to make governance invisible automated and enabling so engineers can move quickly and responsibly across AWS and GCP.
At the moment this role is focused on:
Leading and coaching a team of platform engineers building cloud landing zones account vending and governance foundations
Driving compliance by design through preventative controls automation and clear developer workflows
Partnering closely with Security Risk & Compliance and Platform teams to deliver data-informed governance
Supporting Canvas Containers Everywhere company goal including establishing GCP as a first-class environment
Balancing operational excellence with long-term platform strategy and scalability
Growing high performers through regular feedback coaching and career development
Advocating for governance as an enabler not a blocker to innovation
Youre probably a match if
Youve managed infrastructure or platform teams through complex technical challenges
You have a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure governance ideally across AWS and/or GCP
Youre experienced in leading teams that operate critical highly-scaled systems
Youre comfortable translating complex technical concepts for a wide range of stakeholders
You balance delivery reliability and long-term strategy with confidence
You build trust psychological safety and a strong team culture
Youre comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping teams find clarity
About the team
The Cloud Enablement team sits within Canvas Core Infrastructure organisation. Our mission is to enable secure compliant and cost-efficient engineering without slowing anyone down.
We focus on zero-touch production access compliance by design cost visibility and strategic savings. The team owns foundational capabilities like cloud landing zones account vending preventative compliance controls and the Compliance Engine that supports enterprise audit requirements. Everything else builds on top of what we do.
