Protection Engineer

Introduction:
Join our dedicated team as a Protection Engineer where you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe reliable performance of the power grid. ENTRUST Solutions Group is an industry leader in engineering consulting and automation services known for its technical excellence and commitment to grid this role you will be at the forefront of protection and control engineeringleading relay settings coordination studies system modeling and compliance efforts to meet rigorous NERC PRC standards and strengthen system integrity.

Responsibilities:
In this role you will lead the analysis documentation and implementation of protection strategies for generation and transmission systems. You will review and analyze protective relay settings to ensure proper coordination margins in accordance with NERC PRC standards and recommend setting changes as needed. Responsibilities include documenting relay coordination in compliance reports modeling primary and secondary systems using industryâleading tools such as ASPEN PSSE and PSLF and performing system disturbance analysis to recommend protection system improvements. You will utilize advanced microprocessorâbased digital transient recorders and sequenceâofâevent recorders to support detailed system performance analysis conduct special shortâcircuit studies and perform complex calculations to establish relay settings. This role also involves interfacing with manufacturers regulatory bodies and professional organizations such as IEEE and NPCC to remain current on evolving protection and control requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5 years of experience in protection and control engineering for generation and/or transmission systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in protective relay and control system engineering relay settings calculations relay logic development and analysis of relay operations for transmission and distribution substations.
• Strong knowledge of relay communications theory testing practices and the maintenance of relay communications network infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with advanced system modeling and shortâcircuit studies using ASPEN PSSE PSLF or similar tools.
• Handsâon experience with digital fault recorders and sequenceâofâevent recording systems.
• Active engagement with industry standards and organizations related to protection and control.
