Water Resources Engineer (PE) Stormwater & Drainage
Virginia Beach VA Civil Engineering Transportation Projects
A growing multi-discipline engineering firm is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Engineer (410 years) to join its Virginia Beach VA team. This role focuses on stormwater management drainage design and hydrologic & hydraulic modeling for Virginia transportation and municipal projects with a clear path toward technical leadership and project management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design drainage systems stormwater management and erosion & sediment control plans
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (TR-55 TR-20 HEC-RAS HY-8 HydroCAD PCSWMM)
- Conduct watershed studies and analyze survey mapping and topographic data
- Prepare plans reports specifications and cost estimates
- Coordinate with VDOT local municipalities contractors and consultants
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines
- Support construction phase services as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Water Resources focus ABET accredited)
- 410 years of Water Resources engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Virginia or the ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proven experience in stormwater drainage and erosion & sediment control design
- Strong knowledge of Virginia stormwater regulations
- Proficiency with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer HEC-RAS HY-8 TR-55/TR-20
- Experience managing multiple concurrent design projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Virginia DEQ Stormwater Management Combined Administrator certification
- Experience with VDOT and Locally Administered Projects (LAP)
- GIS experience
