Virginia Beach VA Civil Engineering Transportation Projects

A growing multi-discipline engineering firm is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Engineer (410 years) to join its Virginia Beach VA team. This role focuses on stormwater management drainage design and hydrologic & hydraulic modeling for Virginia transportation and municipal projects with a clear path toward technical leadership and project management.

Key Responsibilities

Design drainage systems stormwater management and erosion & sediment control plans
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (TR-55 TR-20 HEC-RAS HY-8 HydroCAD PCSWMM)
Conduct watershed studies and analyze survey mapping and topographic data
Prepare plans reports specifications and cost estimates
Coordinate with VDOT local municipalities contractors and consultants
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines
Support construction phase services as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Water Resources focus ABET accredited)
410 years of Water Resources engineering experience
Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Virginia or the ability to obtain within 6 months
Proven experience in stormwater drainage and erosion & sediment control design
Strong knowledge of Virginia stormwater regulations
Proficiency with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer HEC-RAS HY-8 TR-55/TR-20
Experience managing multiple concurrent design projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (Nice to Have)

Virginia DEQ Stormwater Management Combined Administrator certification
Experience with VDOT and Locally Administered Projects (LAP)
GIS experience
