Job Description:

Caterpillar has an exciting leadership opportunity and is looking to bring on a Director of Logistics for our Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD). This division includes Caterpillars worldwide parts distribution and integrated logistics organizations encompassing inventory management inbound and outbound logistics warehousing functions packaging container management and product support. PSLD has more than 50 locations around the globe serving our customers and dealers with employees located in 19 countries across every continent.

This Director of Logistics will lead and manage logistics engineering analytics and network integration activities across multiple global facilities and functions using Lean principles to provide safe compliant efficient and industry-leading results. The role includes the following key activities:

  • Logistics Engineering.
  • Logistics & Supply Chain Analytics.
  • Business Partner Collaboration.
  • Logistics Solutions Development.

What you will do (Responsibilities):

  • Determining and implementing the best logistics plans to improve safety compliance quality and production / distribution.
  • Developing and implementing strategic initiatives for the supply and demand requirements and opportunities.
  • Directing the management of logistics services and budget to optimize the flow of materials and products.
  • Interacting with various department heads to develop trust-based relationships resolve critical issues and ensure operational and network goals are in line with the overall business strategy.
  • Leading and inspiring highly effective global teams to deliver results ensure compliance and safely deliver business objectives using Lean principles even in complex and/or changing business climates.

Degree Requirement:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Leads supply chain demand planning process and translate them to operational plans.
  • Mentor others on how to manage and ensure a secure and reliable global supply chain.
  • Oversee supply chains involving high-cost or high-volume production environments.
  • Champions the use of major innovations and best practices of industry leaders.
  • Directs complex supply chains involving multiple suppliers distribution centers and channels.

Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers.

  • Establishes best practices in warehouse efficiency including techniques for layout and site selection.
  • Participates in the design and deployment of a complete warehouse network at the company wide level.
  • Monitors industry and champions the use of technologies for innovations.
  • Develop plans for the flow of goods from supplier to production to customer.
  • Select or designs new warehousing facilities.
  • Leads in discussing approaches for determining the number sizes and locations of required warehouses.
  • Evaluates the cost efficiency of warehouses and makes improvements as needed.
  • Coach others on alternative distribution designs and considerations for demand and source locations.

Additional Details:

  • Location: Morton IL.
  • On-site five days a week.
  • Up to 50% travel for the role.
  • Domestic relocation is offered for the role.
  • Sponsorship is not offered for this role.
  • This position is eligible for stock or other equity grants pursuant to Caterpillars long-term incentive plan.

Summary Pay Range:

$189080.00 - $283630.00
