DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to critical scientific research and innovation. As a Field Service Engineer III youll provide expert installation maintenance and repair services for sophisticated analytical and microscopy equipment (IOMS GIRMS). Working with advanced technology youll deliver outstanding technical support while building strong relationships with customers across research institutions universities and industrial facilities. Youll resolve complex issues conduct preventive maintenance and train users to ensure optimal system performance. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development within an organization dedicated to serving science.
TERRITORY & TRAVEL:
Ideal candidate will live in the central US e.g. Illinois Indiana Iowa Wisconsin Minnesota. There will be up to 100% travel within territory.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced degree plus 3 years of experience or bachelors degree plus 5 years of experience installing troubleshooting repairing and calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments e.g. IOMS GIRMS
- Preferred Fields of Study: Electronics Physics Engineering Computer Science Chemistry or related technical field
- Ongoing technical training and certifications required
- Demonstrated expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems high voltage electronics and complex electro-mechanical systems
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for hardware and software issues
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to build positive customer relationships
- Professional working proficiency in English; additional languages beneficial
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation schematics and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems networking and standard business software
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in laboratory environments
- Experience mentoring and training others preferred
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration
- Availability to respond to urgent customer needs
- Must follow all safety protocols and be able to work in cleanroom environments when required
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $40.06$60.08.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company team and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
