Position: Long-Term Substitute Occupational Therapist
Position Type: Temporary - March 18 2026 through end of school year
Location: Washington Street K-5 Elementary School
Reports to: Building Principals
Salary: $200.00 per day
General Description:The Franklin Public Schools is seeking a long term substitute Occupational Therapist at Washington K-5 Elementary School. Must be very knowledgeable about the special education process and school-based therapy. Successful candidate will work collaboratively with the school-based team to provide direct individual and group therapy assessments and consultation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:- Evaluate referred students for eligibility for special education
- Develop integrated and functional IEP goals and objectives for eligible students
- Participate as a member of the IEP team to design supports and services consistent with the educational philosophy and goals of the district
- Provide research-based intervention and support to assist students in benefitting from special education and accessing the curriculum and life of the school
- Provide direct intervention to students individually in small groups or within the general education classroom
- Collect data and report progress in a systematic way and per the IEP progress reporting cycle
- Consult and train staff and parents to facilitate carryover of skills
Candidates must have:Experience with a wide range of disabilities Successful experience in public school settingsKnowledge of and experience with appropriate formal and informal assessmentsKnowledge of an array of interventions and supportsAbility to work with a teamExcellent oral and written language skillsKnowledge of sensory integration strategies appropriate for a school settingSupport inclusionary practicesQualifications:- Must be licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Health Professions as an Occupational Therapist
- Public school experience preferred
- Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
