Job Title: Credentialing Specialist
Location: New York NY
Assignment Duration: 9 weeks (with possibility of extension)
Schedule: Monday Friday 9:00 AM 5:00 PM
Work Type: On-site (not remote)
Pay Rate: $30/hour (W2)
Facility Coverage: Multiple hospital locations across Manhattan Bronx Brooklyn and Queens
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Credentialing Specialist to support healthcare provider credentialing operations across multiple hospital facilities. This role is responsible for managing the full credentialing lifecycle including initial appointments reappointments audits and clinical privileging in compliance with regulatory accrediting and organizational standards.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of provider credentialing and re-credentialing for physicians allied health professionals and other clinical providers
Perform initial appointments reappointments credential audits and clinical privileging in accordance with corporate policies and medical staff bylaws
Utilize MDStaff credentialing software to conduct track and monitor credentialing and background verification activities
Complete primary source verification for new and existing providers to ensure compliance and due diligence
Monitor and manage professional license renewals to ensure providers maintain active licensure prior to expiration
Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider credentialing files and documentation
Ensure data accuracy consistency and integrity within credentialing databases
Interpret and ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory requirements (e.g. Joint Commission state and federal regulations)
Generate and utilize database alerts reports and scanned documentation to track credentialing status
Provide credentialing back-up coverage for other members of the credentialing team as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree Required
Prior experience as a Credentialing Specialist in a healthcare setting Required
Demonstrated experience with provider credentialing and re-credentialing processes
Proficiency with credentialing software systems (MDStaff experience required)
Strong attention to detail organizational and documentation skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
