The Lower School Classroom Teacher (Grades K-3) is a full time position reporting to the Head of the Lower School. The classroom teacher is responsible for guiding the social emotional and academic growth of a class of students. The ability to appreciate and work effectively across individual and cultural differences is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate the ability to communicate motivate and understand the academic and emotional needs of six to nine year old children
Plan and implement lessons in language arts mathematics and social studies that facilitate active learning and follow Potomacs curricular guidelines and requirements
Monitor student progress using a range of formal and informal assessment tools and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a range of learners
Create and manage a positive classroom environment that inspires student learning
Work collaboratively with other teachers parents support staff and members of the community
Communicate effectively with parents to discuss student progress and areas for growth
Participates in faculty and professional meetings educational conferences and training workshops
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in related field
Two or more years of teaching experience at the primary level
Ability to support Potomacs mission to foster each childs intellectual development love of learning and strength of character
A collaborative and engaging educator with outstanding communication and organizational skills.
