Ravenscroft School seeks a Lower School Spanish Teacher (Grades 35) to join a community of educators committed to diversity equity inclusion and student-centered learning.
This role provides engaging differentiated Spanish instruction aligned with ACTFL best practices and proficiency standards. The ideal candidate is innovative growth-oriented and passionate about supporting the intellectual emotional and social development of Lower School students while building authentic relationships within our school community.
Reports to: Head of Lower School
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
What Youll Do
Instruction & Curriculum:
- Provide student-centereddifferentiated Spanish instruction aligned with ACTFL standards and current best practices
- Challenge and support diverse learners by adjusting instructional strategies to meet individual needs
- Collaborate with Lower Middle and Upper School World Language colleagues to ensure vertical curriculum alignment
Assessment & Communication:
- Write narrative report cards in English and provide written feedback on student progress
- Grade assignments and assess student performance
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English with parents and families through conferences written correspondence and electronic communication
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and administrators using strong written and verbal English communication skills
Community Engagement:
- Partner positively and professionally with students families and colleagues.
- Collaborate with the PK2 Spanish teacher to plan and implement Lower School cultural events and celebrations such as Hispanic Heritage Month

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education
- ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) rating of Advanced Low or higher in Spanish; unless a Native Spanish speaker
- Demonstrated professional fluency in English sufficient enough to perform documentation assessments and family communication responsibilities
- Passion for teaching Spanish to elementary-aged students
- Strong written verbal and technology skills
- Cultural competence empathy and a commitment to working within a diverse community
Preferred:
- Masters Degree
- Previous experience teaching to elementary aged students
- Experience developing and teaching a proficiency-based curriculum
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position requires prolonged periods of standing and active classroom engagement. The role includes regular movement throughout the classroom and campus as well are participation in school events and activities.
