POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tennis Instructors at Leeper Tennis Center part of South Bend Venues Parks & Arts are responsible for delivering high-quality tennis instruction in group lessons and camps for players of all skill levels. The role involves creating a positive supportive environment while helping participants improve their skills and enjoy the game. Strong communication organizational skills and a passion for tennis are key to success in this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead group tennis lessons and camps for players of all skill levels.
Create a positive and supportive learning environment for participants.
Develop and implement lesson plans that promote skill improvement and enjoyment of the game.
Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to players.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during lessons and camps.
Maintain communication with participants and their families regarding progress and upcoming events.
Assist in the setup organization and maintenance of tennis equipment and facilities.
NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in tennis instruction or coaching preferred.
Certification in tennis coaching preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong understanding of tennis techniques rules and strategies.
Ability to teach and communicate effectively with players of all ages and skill levels.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and schedules.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and motivate players.
Familiarity with tennis equipment and facility maintenance.
Ability to maintain a positive supportive and safe environment for all SKILLS AND ABILITIES
CERTIFICATES LICENSE REGISTRATION:
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or the ability to obtain upon hire.
EQUIPMENT:
Knowledge of tennis racquets balls and other related equipment.
Ability to ensure proper care and maintenance of tennis equipment and facilities.
Ability to operate machinery such as court blowers to maintain clean and safe playing surfaces.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit and walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk use hands to fingers handle or feel objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required in this job include vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed outdoors at a tennis facility with exposure to varying weather conditions. The role requires frequent interaction with participants of all ages and skill levels in a dynamic and active setting. Instructors must be able to stand walk and move around the courts for extended periods of time as well as lift and carry tennis equipment when necessary.
Maintaining a clean safe playing environment is a priority and adherence to safety protocols is essential. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends will be required based on the program schedule.
