Our team architects builds and evolves the mission-critical web applications that power our core business verticals including Customer Support Fraud & Dispute handling and back-office operations. We are the engineering backbone for the platforms that ensure our business runs smoothly and securely and we are on a journey to modernize our technology stack for the future. The software dev intern in our team will partner closely with one of our stakeholders and solve a specific problem end to end while ensuring the solution aligns with the teams software engineering best practices.

**The candidate must be available for the entire internship period:**

  • Cohort 1: Monday June 1st 2026 to Friday August 21st 2026
  • Cohort 2: Monday June 15th 2026 to Friday September 4th 2026

What Youll Do:

  • Write test and deploy efficient scalable code to production that impacts millions of SoFi members
  • Design develop code and test software systems improvements products and user-facing experiences
  • Work with multiple languages and frameworks including: Python/AWS/PostgreSQL/React/NextJS
  • Directly contribute to standard methodologies architecture and implementation
  • Translate user stories into technical solutions
  • Participate in design and code reviews
  • Work alongside software architects and senior developers doing state-of-the-art development work (mobile front-end back-end DevOps)
  • Learn about new technologies tools and processes that will build your skill set and help shape your career
  • Present your summer project and work to SoFis senior leadership team

What Youll Need:

  • Enrolled in an accredited US-based university (working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree) with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027
  • Must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship
  • Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience (excluding internships and research assistant roles)
  • Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work in the San Francisco HQ office
  • Some experience building software in a non-academic setting (internship research roles relevant projects etc.)
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and how to apply them in a coding environment
  • Knowledge of algorithms data structures and systems architecture
  • Ability to quickly learn new languages and adopt new technologies methods and processes in a fast-paced work environment
  • Intellectual curiosity and an affinity for solving problems

Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidates experience skills and location.

$44 - $55 USD
