Employment:StartJuly 2026. Position is 1.0 FTE Extended contract of 20 days.

  • Salary placement is based on experience and education and is according to the 2026-27 salary schedule which is pending finalization.

JOB TITLE: Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator

REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Masters Degree Preferred

Certification/Licensure:

  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement in Special Education

Experience Desired:

  • Minimum of three years successful teaching experience in special education
  • Experience in curriculum development program coordination or instructional leadership
  • Experience providing professional learning and coaching support to adult learners and educational staff

Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge of federal state and local policies/regulations pertaining to early childhood programs pedagogy inclusive practices and developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Possess strong communication collaboration and organizational skills
  • Ability to function in a highly professional manner

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of each employees position includes (1) regular dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge skills and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements of their specific job description.

Basic:

The Early Childhood Coordinator assists in the development implementation and monitoring of early childhood programs (birth through age five). This role ensures high-quality equitable early learning experiences; coordinates curriculum and instructional practices; facilitates collaboration among staff families and community partners; and advances continuous program improvement in alignment with district goals and state early childhood standards.

Frequent:

  1. Collaborates with district administrators to provide leadership regarding federal state and local policies/regulations relating to the provision of early intervention and special education services for students with disabilities
  2. Assists district and school administrators in the oversight and implementation of early intervention and preschool programs
  3. Assists staff with the identification and implementation of research-based instructional interventions service delivery models specialized materials and other appropriate supports for students with disabilities to enable them to progress in the District adopted curriculum and meet district and state standards
  4. Coordinates and provides coaching and professional learning to early childhood and special education teachers and support staff
  5. Assists in the preparation of federal state and local reports under the direction of the Director of Special Education
  6. Engages with families during problem solving efforts to ensure the provision of appropriate early intervention and special education services
  7. Assumes other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the administration
