Job Summary
Specialty: Boiler Plant Operations / Utilities
Place of Work (City/State): Nashville TN
Duration: 1-year base contract with 4 option years
Shift Schedule:
- Training Period (First 90 days):
- Monday Friday: 8AM 4PM
- Regular Shifts (Post-training):
- 4PM 12AM
- 12AM 8AM
- Emergency Shifts (On-call within 24 hours):
- 8AM 4PM
- 4PM 12AM
- 12AM 8AM
- Includes weekends and Federal Holidays as scheduled
- Full-time: 40 hours per week per operator
- Additional emergency coverage: up to 30 hours per operator as required
- Boiler Operator Certification (360 Training or equivalent)
- OSHA 10
- Confined Space Entry
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating high-pressure steam boilers (up to 2500 HP)
- High-pressure boiler operations
- Boiler startup/shutdown procedures
- Preventive maintenance (PMs)
- Safety device testing
- Emergency response operations
- Logbook documentation and monitoring systems
- Operate and maintain high-pressure boiler systems
- Perform startup and shutdown of boilers
- Monitor plant equipment alarms and gauges
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance
- Test safety devices and control systems
- Prepare equipment for inspections
- Operate emergency generators
- Maintain accurate daily operational logs
- Respond to emergency utility situations
- Perform additional duties as directed by VA Utility Systems Supervisor
- Steel-toed shoes required
- Must be available for Federal Holidays
