Job Summary

Job Title: Manager of Surgical Services
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time
Position Urgency: Normal

Position Summary:
The Manager of Surgical Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the surgical department ensuring high-quality patient care regulatory compliance and efficient departmental performance. This role provides leadership to surgical services staff and works collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support safe effective perioperative care.

Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
Bachelors degree or equivalent required
CNOR certification preferred

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of Registered Nurse experience including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery required
Post-anesthesia care experience preferred
Prior leadership supervisory or management experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications:

Active California RN license required
Current AHA BLS ACLS and PALS certifications required

Skills & Competencies:

Ability to remain calm and decisive during emergency situations
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify operational challenges and implement short- and long-term solutions
Excellent organizational leadership and communication skills
Ability to effectively delegate duties and maintain efficient departmental operations

Language Requirements:

Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit stand and walk for extended periods during the workday
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
Moderate exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals

Additional Requirements:

Ability to supervise and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients physicians and ancillary departments
