Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Monolithic Database Refactoring Lead to spearhead the decomposition of large monolithic databases into modular domain-aligned components and schemas. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of modernizing databases to support agility scalability and flexibility. As a senior leader you will be responsible for guiding cross-functional teams developing refactoring strategies and ensuring the successful implementation of database modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Refactoring: Lead the decomposition of monolithic databases into modular domain-aligned components and schemas ensuring data consistency integrity and security.
- Domain-Driven Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business domains define data models and design database architectures that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Database Modernization: Develop and implement strategies to modernize database infrastructure including the adoption of cloud-native databases NoSQL databases and other emerging technologies.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and oversight to cross-functional teams ensuring that database refactoring efforts are aligned with organizational standards best practices and industry trends.
- Communication and Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders including technical teams business leaders and external partners to ensure that database refactoring efforts meet organizational needs and expectations.
- Data Governance: Develop and implement data governance policies procedures and standards to ensure data quality security and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Project Management: Manage database refactoring projects including planning execution and delivery to ensure timely within-budget and high-quality outcomes.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends technologies and best practices in database refactoring and apply this knowledge to continuously improve database modernization initiatives.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in database administration architecture or engineering with a focus on monolithic database refactoring and modernization.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in database management systems including relational databases (e.g. Oracle SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB Cassandra).
- Experience with database design data modeling and schema development.
- Familiarity with cloud-native databases cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS Azure) and containerization (e.g. Docker).
- Strong understanding of data governance data security and compliance regulations (e.g. GDPR HIPAA).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication collaboration and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving analytical and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Database certifications (e.g. Oracle Certified Professional Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
- Experience with Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (e.g. Scrum Kanban) and experience with iterative software development.
- Cloud Computing Experience: Experience with cloud computing platforms including AWS Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- DevOps Experience: Familiarity with DevOps practices including continuous integration continuous delivery and continuous monitoring.
