Base Hourly:

$19.64

B21 10.75 months

New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement up to aten-year maximum

New Hire Education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Job Summary:

To serve as a liaison between migrant families and school and community resources; to identify and recruit migrant families to participate in educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and recruiting migrant families for the Migrant Educational Program
  • Make home visitations and maintain clear well-organized and comprehensive logs and records regarding activities and time involved
  • Plan and coordinate parent meetings
  • Assist families by directing or scheduling social and medical appointments
  • Maintain open lines of communication with school and home; assist in problem solving
  • Represent families in disciplinary due process hearing or court cases as required
  • Submit certificate of eligibility and other reports as required
  • Maintain accurate records and data as needed for necessary reports; update student records in the MIS2000 system as necessary
  • Attend district or regional in-service to identify and recruit families for the Migrant Program
  • Knowledge of community resources/agencies
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in working with community agencies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) and Biliterate (Spanish) preferred

  • Ability to work evening meetings as required
  • Proven skill and experience in working with students parents and employees
  • Above average evaluation or work record
  • Moderate proficiency in typing with good accuracy; above average test battery
  • Good communication and interaction skills in dealing with students parents and staff
  • Knowledge of Arizona laws pertaining to schools and youth is desirable
  • Knowledge of Mesa Public Schools educational system
  • Competency in computer use to include word processing database management and spreadsheets

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Works out of district offices and schools
  • Frequent interaction with administrators teachers counselors and support staff.
  • Regular visits to homes community centers local events and partner organizations
  • Might travel throughout the district or region to recruit families and engage stakeholders
  • Interacts with families from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Lifting and carrying materials (e.g. brochures event supplies) usually under 25 pounds
