Are you a good communicator with a great eye for detail

We are seeking an Adoption Officer to work 25 hours per week in the Adoptions Team of the National Records of Scotland (NRS) providing support to adoptees in accessing information and records as well as offering face to face assistance. As part of a collaborative team you will help adoptees and representatives retrieve adoption-related information manage and store records and ensure compliance with document security procedures.

We are a small friendly team responsible for registering all the adoption and parental court orders received from Scottish Courts. You will work confidently on your own and collaboratively as part of the team producing highly accurate work.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieving original birth certificates and adoption orders.
  • Schedule and lead face-to-face appointments with adoptees or their nominated representatives.
  • Support intake of adoption records from Scottish courts.
  • Maintain highly accurate reporting and statistics.
  • Handle retransmission of records and general mailbox administration responding to sensitive and confidential correspondence daily.
  • Register Adoption Orders Parental Orders and Foreign Adoption Orders.
  • Process Extract orders through World Pay and produce initial Adoption Orders.
  • Produce RCE (Register of Corrected Entries) for Change of name and complete additional ad hoc duties as required
