As a Patient Access Coordinator you willhelp us continue serving as a top leader of care byorganizingandcoordinatingthe activities and flow of work for the patient access efforts focus onoptimizingyour team and driving improvementsultimately enhancingthe Cleveland Clinic and positively impacting the community as a whole.


A caregiver in this position works primarily from 8:30am to 5:00pm and may cover a 7:00am or 8:00am start. Additional times include one 11:30am to 8:00pm shift if needed.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area.
  • Assign tasksmonitorperformanceandassistin training patient servicerepresentatives.
  • Screen candidates recommendhiring conduct performanceappraisalsand recommend corrective counseling.
  • Develop implement and oversee programs to improve appointmentutilizationsuch as reminder follow-up on no-show/cancellation program.
  • Coordinate activities and resolve operational problems.
  • Adjust employeespatientsand physicians schedules to respond to operational problems.
  • Control and audit the reconciliation of daysheetsincluding adjusting statistics in the computer data bank.
  • Produce reports as needed.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • HighSchoolDiploma or GED
  • TwoyearsCleveland Clinic outpatient scheduling experience or other equivalent position which includes interacting with patientsphysiciansand other departments on a problem resolution basis
  • OR Minimum three years external outpatient scheduling experience wheredemonstratedexperience includes resolving patient scheduling and the coordination of the work of others
  • ORAssociateDegreemay substitute for one year of experience
  • ORBachelorsDegreemaysubstitute for the experience requirement

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent data entry sitting standing and walking. Normal or corrected vision hearing and speech. Occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
