The Interior Designer II is responsible for design and presentation drafting as well as planning designing and furnishing the interiors of various public commercial and industrial buildings according to needs of clients.
Essential Functions
- Perform field verification of existing spaces and documentation as needed.
- Research interior products furniture and materials.
- Apply established interior design standards in daily work to include but not limited to building finishes fixtures accessories window treatments art work furniture plants and related items.
- Participate in all phases of design projects including programming schematic design design development construction documentation and construction administration.
- Work with clients to define project requirements and develop design criteria.
- Create and present interior design concepts in response to client needs.
- Design sketch and provide drawings by hand or computer-aided design (CAD) software including but not limited to options for layout and workflow furniture placement and equipment locations.
- Refine design to clients satisfaction and presents complete Interior Design concept of project.
- Produce specifications for construction elements furnishings and estimates costs.
- Produce construction documents.
- Perform construction administration.
- Prepare and maintain design schedules.
- Responsible for design budget management and cost control.
- Design develop and coordinate interior graphics and signage packages.
- Formulate designs that are practical aesthetic and conducive to intended purposes.
- Work closely with project manager to ensure that client needs are met.
- Maintain resource materials and library.
- Meet with industry representatives regarding new and/or updated products.
- Order samples from representatives and manufacturers.
- Support business development activities as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in interior design or related field
- Three (3) years related experience in a professional environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel software
- Familiarity with Adobe software
- Experience with computer-aided industrial design (CAID) software
- Good aesthetic judgment with an appreciation of balance and proportion along with a good sense of color.
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to effectively and confidently prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities
- Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to provide excellent customer service (internally and externally)
- Strong attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently
- Ability to manage information with a high level of detail and accuracy
- Proven ability to assess factors make and communicate decisions
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Newforma Project Center Prolog Project Manager or Primavera Systems Expedition software
- Experience with Autocad Revit software
- NCIDQ Certificate holder
