Job Description

At Emporia hardware products are the tip of the spear - attracting customers fueling data analytics and enabling demand response through integration with Emporias energy management platform. We provide our customers with reliable high-value-add products at industry leading pricing.

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role will involve leading mechanical design efforts across various consumer electronics projects while mentoring junior team members. The role will be wide ranging from initial part and assembly design through complete production in a mass manufacturing setting with our partners. This will include directing testing programs for early stage products in house coordinating with outside labs and managing supplier relationships. This position requires startup experience with the grit and determination to push through tight timelines in a high-pressure environment and the leadership skills to motivate and energize junior engineers and peers during challenging product development cycles.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • BS Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Experience range: 8-12 years
  • Startup or fast-paced product development experience
  • Proven track record of bringing multiple products to market from concept through production
  • Proven ability to deliver results under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Fusion 360 or Solidworks Experience: 8 years
  • Manufacturing experience both in house and with contract manufacturing partners
  • Proficiency with Change Management using PLM & PDM systems
  • Strong understanding of GD&T mechanical drawings and tolerance studies
  • Design Experience: Injection molded components plastics with UV exposure sheet metal extrusions casting design IP enclosure design
  • Thermal management design experience
  • Ability to use hand / shop tools

Desired Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience leading cross-functional product development teams
  • DFM optimization and cost reduction experience with CM partners
  • Consumer Product Design for regulated industries
  • Knowledge of UL/IEC/automotive certification requirements
  • Experience with PFMEA control plans and manufacturing quality systems such as ISO9001 or IATF16949
  • Strong understanding root cause analysis (RCA) and 8D problem-solving methodology
  • Certified in Design for Six Sigma DMAIC or lean Six Sigma
  • Hire coach develop and motivate direct reports to accomplish team goals
