Why work for the City of Oakland Human Services Department
The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill one (1) Food Program Monitor vacancy within the Human Services Department (HSD). The Human Services Department works to strengthen Oakland communities by ensuring access to essential services that support children youth and families. This position supports the Citys food programs which provide free meals to children and youth during periods when school is not in session. Food Program Monitors play a critical role in ensuring meals are delivered safely sites operate in compliance with City State and federal requirements and children have consistent equitable access to nutritious food.
This role is part of a small mission-driven team focused on operational excellence community partnership and public service. The work is fast-paced people-centered and directly impacts families across Oakland.This position is not eligible for remote work. Food Program Monitors work primarily in the field traveling between program sites across Oakland. Administrative tasks such as reporting and data entry may be completed at City facilities using City-issued equipment.
