We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on an outsourced contract basis to ensure uninterrupted financial leadership governance and statutory compliance pending the appointment of a permanent CFO.
The Interim CFO will provide executive financial oversight strategic direction and compliance leadership while stabilising financial operations during the transition period.
Purpose of the Role
To provide urgent executive-level financial leadership maintain governance standards ensure statutory compliance and support strategic financial management during a transitional period.
Scope of Responsibilities
The Interim CFO will:
Provide executive oversight and strategic leadership of financial operations
Perform full CFO functions on an urgent and interim basis
Liaise closely with the accounting authority and executive leadership
Support strategic planning with financial analysis and advice
Align budgets and financial targets with strategic objectives
Manage working capital assets liabilities and project finance
Maintain financial records and support unqualified audit outcomes
Provide financial due diligence on acquisitions and projects
Secure and oversee funding implementation
Monitor budget execution within approved delegations
Optimise cash flow borrowing structures and funding costs
Mitigate financial risks across the organisation
Ensure compliance with monthly quarterly and annual reporting
Meet statutory requirements under PFMA and Treasury Regulations
Provide oversight of Supply Chain Management governance
Manage financial systems controls and resource allocation
Perform additional duties as required by executive leadership and governance bodies
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Chartered Accountant CA(SA) or equivalent senior financial qualification
Minimum 10 years senior financial management experience
Prior CFO or Acting CFO experience (highly preferred)
Public sector / SOE financial management experience
Proven PFMA and Treasury Regulations expertise
Experience managing audits and financial governance
Strong strategic finance and funding experience
Governance & Compliance Expectations
Maintain independence and objectivity
Adhere to strict confidentiality requirements
Ensure full compliance with public finance legislation
Strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks
