Job Description: Project Leader Mainframe Application Development
Role Overview
The Project Leader will drive the end-to-end delivery of large-scale mainframe applications spanning both online and batch processing environments. This role requires strong technical leadership hands-on development expertise and the ability to guide onshore and offshore development teams. The ideal candidate will be experienced in designing developing and enhancing high-volume transaction processing systems within regulated banking and financial services environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Act as the Project Leader for complex enterprise-level mainframe initiatives across online and batch systems.
Provide hands-on technical guidance leadership and mentorship to development teams including offshore resources.
Oversee project planning execution and delivery in alignment with organizational standards and timelines.
Ensure high-quality technical outcomes and adherence to best practices in development testing and deployment.
Design & Development
Lead requirements analysis and translate business needs into high-level and low-level technical designs.
Architect design and develop robust solutions using:
COBOL
IMS DB/DC
DB2
Batch Processing (JCL/PROC)
BMP and Online Programs
Enhance and maintain high-volume transaction processing systems and payment/settlement applications.
Review code ensure optimal application performance and support complex troubleshooting activities.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure all deliverables comply with banking regulatory and security standards.
Uphold enterprise architecture guidelines and promote development best practices.
Collaborate with risk compliance and audit teams to align solutions with organizational controls.
Essential Skills
Advanced proficiency in COBOL IMS DB/DC and DB2.
Strong expertise in mainframe batch and online processing.
Hands-on experience designing large-scale transactional systems.
Desirable Skills
Exposure to enterprise-scale payment or settlement applications.
Experience in performance tuning and optimization of mainframe programs.
Familiarity with SDLC frameworks and Agile methodologies.
